Western Australia’s northern regional/remote electricity distributor and retailer Horizon Power is in the process of further developing renewable energy generation into its wider power generation portfolio, specifically for remote Aboriginal communities.
Kalumburu and Yungngora are both remote communities that are to receive new solar-diesel-hybrid power stations. To this effect, Horizion Power have conducted a two stage RFP process for this capex project. Commsolar, as a shortlist proponent, has submitted a competitive bid with project partner First Solar.
An announcement of winning bid is expected this financial year, with practical completion proposed for 2012.
