City of Stonnington Council Depot
As a member of the Cities for Climate Protection program, the City of Stonnington has made a commitment to reduce its corporate greenhouse gas emissions. Strategies outlined in the Corporate Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Target report are aimed at either reducing energy consumption or sourcing energy requirements from renewable sources.
The installation of 207 Monocrystaline PV panels for the 39.3kW grid connected photovoltaic system on the roof of the Stonnington Depot, at Tooronga Road Malvern, is the second Council site generating renewable energy from the sun and therefore reducing their greenhouse gas emissions.
The electricity generated by this system will equate to approximately 20% of the Depot’s current annual power consumption.
Commsolar used its experience and expertise to work with the Council during the installation phase to ensure minimum disruptions to the depot operations, which operates 7 days a week and up to 12 hours each day.
Commsolar continues to drive and to develop its capabilities to expand into new markets. The experience of working with a leading Council, such as the City of Stonnington, is a strategy that will be replicated in other markets in Queensland, New South Wales, and Western Australia.
This project demonstrates that commsolar has the capacity to deliver cost effective solutions to its clients within the local government sector.
